Nick Foligno Pre-Game Warm-up Used and Autographed Skates (Framed) - Limited Edition Willie O’Ree Bauer Supreme Ultrasonic
Own a piece of NHL history!
This custom skate graphic was designed to honour and celebrate the achievements of Willie O’Ree - the NHL’s first black player. O’Ree made history on January 18, 1958, when he played his first NHL game for the Boston Bruins against the Montreal Canadiens. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2018 and has made many contributions to the game, including serving as the NHL’s Diversity Ambassador. The skates include O’Ree’s No. 22 on the heel, his image and the date of his first game. The skates also feature various words and quotes that symbolize O’Ree and his values.
In honour of Willie O’Ree, several NHL players wore these limited edition skates during Black History Month. Nick Foligno wore this specific pair as a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets during the pre-game warm-up in Columbus, Ohio on February 18, 2021 vs. the Nashville Predators. The skates were then autographed by Foligno.
Only 24 pairs of these custom skates were produced, with one pair residing in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
The skates come with a letter of authenticity from Bauer Hockey. The photo match can be found at Getty Images here.
The skates come with a premium, custom made frame. The front panel is removable for easy access and includes UV protected and glare resistant glass. The skates are framed with signed photos of O'Ree and Foligno, as well as the "Celebrating Equality" patch.
